A.P.H.A.C.

The Association for Public Health Action in Criminal Justice exists to promote critical analysis of the criminal justice system from a public health perspective. APHAC is an organizational base for students and faculty from diverse academic and professional backgrounds who are committed to 1) identifying, assessing, and addressing the public health impacts of the criminal justice system on people, communities, and other systems; 2) raising awareness about the intersection and common causes of disparities in health and retributive justice; and 3) promoting student participation in public events, student activities, and lectures related to criminal justice issues.

A.P.H.A.C. goes official

Greetings and Happy New Year,

This is just a quick note to let everyone know that APHAC (formerly Class Action) has been "officially" approved by Mailman. This means we have some funding to organize lectures, host events, and move forward. This is all great news, so as soon as the semester gets rolling we will be holding some early meetings, increase recruitment efforts, and start planning some events.

Anyone interested in getting more involved and pitching ideas, please do not hesitate to reach out to Shae, Olivia, or me. Our leadership is very inspired and committed to our mission, but we will only thrive with input from the Mailman community.

Please expect more regular blogging.

Hopefully, the establishment of APHAC will open up more doors for conversations on how rising public health professionals can be a part of restoring justice, equity, and health to those impacted by the criminal justice system. Please, help us make our presence felt.

DHC
